A-Katsastus striving to improve traffic safety
Improving traffic safety is an important part of A-Katsastus’ corporate responsibility work and a way to impact the society. Many factors affect traffic safety: vehicle condition, traffic arrangements, skill level and attitude of road users, as well as road network and conditions.
Traffic safety can also be improved by studying past accidents and learning from them. Road accident investigation teams investigate all fatal road and cross-country traffic accidents. Experts from various fields serve on the teams; members from A-Katsastus are vehicle engineering experts, typically vehicle inspectors. They serve as a technical experts on the teams, inspecting all vehicles involved in the accident that is under investigation. Information collected on vehicles involved in accidents can be put to good use in traffic safety work.
