Tradeka as part of the community

Contributing to community well-being and development is one of the themes of Tradeka’s sustainability work. The Group’s subsidiaries carry out company-specific community initiatives, examples of which are presented on this page. Tradeka also returns part of its profits to society through donations, grants and investments.

Profit distribution pledge

Tradeka has made a profit distribution pledge to return a significant share—an average of at least 10%—of its business profits to Finnish society. In 2025, the amount distributed under the pledge totalled EUR 1.67 million in donations and investments.

Through its donation activities, Tradeka makes a significant contribution to community well-being. Its particular focus areas are children, young people and families; digital development that benefits citizens; and research, education and communication activities related to social change and solidarity.

The profit distribution pledge is fulfilled through donations and grants, investment activities and Tradeka’s own corporate responsibility projects. Tradeka awards donations based on written applications, which are considered by the Cooperative’s Board of Directors.

Based on the results of a survey sent to grant recipients in spring 2025, Tradeka has successfully directed its donations specifically towards projects that would not have gone ahead without its support. Respondents rated the importance of the grant to their organisation’s overall funding at 9.2 out of 10. Of the respondents, 94% reported that the grant had made something possible that would otherwise not have been implemented. The survey was sent to 76 organisations that had received grants or donations between 2023 and 2025. A total of 55 organisations responded, giving a response rate of 72%.

We develop sustainability together

Tradeka listens to the Cooperative’s members and its subsidiaries’ customers to develop its sustainability work and business operations. Tradeka consults its members through channels including the member survey and the member initiative channel. Member initiatives give members a concrete way to influence Tradeka’s operations. Members can use the online service to submit initiatives concerning matters such as member benefits, business operations, investment activities or corporate responsibility. The Group’s subsidiaries also use their own customer feedback and research channels.
